Life History & Behaviour

Like many marine invertebrates, E. quadricolor can reproduce both sexually and asexually resulting in both biphasic and direct development life history stratergies. Adults are largely sessile, using pedal disks to secure themselves to the substrate, however when disturbed they are readily mobile. This species obtain nutrients both via transfer from endosymbiotic photosynthesizing algae and heterotrophically, displaying filter feeding and carnivorous behaviour.
